The highest redshift radio quasar as seen with the EVN and the VLA

چکیده
Abstract. We report on European VLBI Network (EVN) and Very Large Array (VLA) observations of SDSS J0836+0054, the most distant radio-loud quasar known at present (z = 5.774). The source, with a total flux density of 1.1 mJy, shows a compact structure at ∼ 10 mas angular resolution at 1.6 GHz frequency, with no indication of multiple images produced by gravitational lensing within a 4′′ × 4′′ field above the brightness level of ∼ 100 μJy/beam. More recent 5-GHz EVN observations are being analysed now. As a by-product, a two-sided mas-scale jet structure is suspected in one of the phase-reference calibrator quasars, PKS 0837+012.

ASTRONOMY AND ASTROPHYSICS AGN and starbursts at high redshift: High resolution EVN radio observations of the Hubble Deep Field. Abstract. We present deep, wide-field European VLBI Network (EVN) 1.6 GHz observations of the Hubble Deep Field (HDF) region with a resolution of 0.025 arcseconds. Above the 210 µJy/beam (5σ) detection level, the EVN clearly detects two radio sources in a field that e...

We present 8.4 GHz VLA A-array and 1.4 GHz VLBA results on the radio continuum emission from the highest redshift radio-loud quasar known to date, the z = 6.12 QSO J1427+3312. The VLA observations show an unresolved steep spectrum source with a flux density of 250 ± 20 μJy at 8.4 GHz and a spectral index value of α 1.4 = −1.1. The 1.4 GHz VLBA images reveal several continuum components with a t...
متن کاملA Study of Quasar Radio Emission from the VLA FIRST Survey
Using the most recent (1998) version of the VLA FIRST survey radio catalog, we have searched for radio emission from 1704 quasars taken from the most recent (1993) version of the Hewitt and Burbidge quasar catalog. These quasars lie in the ∼5000 square degrees of sky already covered by the VLA FIRST survey. Our work has resulted in positive detection of radio emission from 389 quasars of which ...
متن کاملEstimating the continuum of quasars using the articial neural networks
A lot of absorption lines are in the bluewards of Lyα emission line of quasar which is well-known as Lyαforest. Most of absorption lines in this forest belong to the Lyα absorption of the neutral hydrogen in the inter-galactic medium (IGM). For high redshift quasars and in the continuum with low and medium resolution, there are no many regions without absorption, so that, the quasar continuum i...

We have made radio observations of 87 optically selected quasars at 5 GHz with the VLA in order to measure the radio power for these objects and hence determine how the fraction of radio-loud quasars varies with redshift and optical luminosity. The sample has been selected from the recently completed Edinburgh Quasar Survey and covers a redshift range of 0.3 ≤ z ≤ 1.5 and an optical absolute ma...
